Hey,

I'm Gavin-kai, and I'm one of the people behind ReDirect. I'm a second-year mechanical engineering student at UCLA, and I grew up in Cerritos. Honestly, screens are winning, and it's hard to watch.

We're a small group of college students who grew up as part of the first generation raised on tablets and phones. We lived the screen time problem before we ever tried to solve it. We saw what endless scrolling did to our own attention, our sleep, our ability to sit still with a book. Now we're watching kids a decade younger than us grow up with even more of it, and earlier.

And the numbers are genuinely alarming. Kids are spending hours a day on screens while reading for fun keeps falling. That gap compounds fast. Reading is how kids build vocabulary, focus, empathy, and the patience to work through something hard, and when it gets crowded out, a lot goes with it.

So we asked a simple question. What if screen time wasn't the enemy of reading, but the reward for it?

That's ReDirect. Instead of just blocking apps and starting a fight, kids earn their screen time back by reading short passages at their grade level and answering a few questions. Read, understand, earn, play. It turns the thing every parent is arguing about into the thing that gets kids reading again.

You can use ReDirect for free. We built it because we wished something like it existed when we were younger, and because we think kids deserve better than what the algorithm is serving them.
